A NOVEL WRITTEN BY SADDAM HUSSEIN
TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese readers looking for a slightly different tale can now curl up with "Get Out of Here, Curse You" -- a novel by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
The book, believed to have been written on the eve of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq and titled "Devil's Dance" in its Japanese translation, hit stores around the nation on Friday.
Jordan banned the book on the grounds it could damage ties with Iraq, but pirated copies of the tale of an Arab tribesman who defeats foreign invaders became a bestseller in Amman.
The original manuscript was smuggled out of Iraq by one of Saddam Hussein's daughters, Raghad, and a copy given to Japanese journalist and translator Itsuko Hirata.
"The novel is dated to the times of ancient tribal society but the tribal warfare depicted in the novel is strikingly similar to what happened and is happening in the Iraqi war -- totally," Hirata told Reuters before the book's release.
"He (Saddam) knew he was heading into a war he couldn't win, so I think with this book he was trying to make his position clear and send a message to the Iraqi people."
Among the chapters are those titled "The Foreigner Who Sold the Tribes," "Retaliatory Tactics" and "The Burning of the Twin Towers," although Hirata said this did not specifically refer to the World Trade Centre buildings attacked on September 11, 2001.
Saddam, now on trial for war crimes, was credited with writing several other novels but Iraqi writers and intellectuals said after his overthrow the books were written by a committee.
Hirata believes the current novel, issued in a cover patterned with violets, was written by Saddam and has a melodic clarity to it that suggests it could be adapted to the stage.
"I really think this book should be made into a musical," she said. "And once this is done, it should play in the heart of his enemy's country, on Broadway."
Koichi Chikaraishi, editor-in-chief at publisher Tokuma Shoten, said they decided to issue the book because it was a historical curiosity.
"People here don't think Saddam is totally bad, as they do in places like America, so there are people who will be interested in hearing his side of the story," he said, adding that he wasn't sure how it would sell.

The Frenchman had been linked with a summer switch to Barcelona, who came from behind to beat Arsenal in Wednesday's Champions League final in Paris, but has opted to pledge his future to the north London club.
"I'm staying here with the club that I love," he said.
"It's been amazing since I joined the club. It did cross my mind to leave but I think with my heart and my heart told me to stay.
"Seven years ago Arsene Wenger signed me and without him and David Dein I would not be here now.

It was just not to be.
Arsenal’s journey to the Champions League Final had been based on bravery, artistry and youthful endeavour. They displayed those qualities again on a dramatic night at the Stade de France but, with the trophy within their grasp, found their path blocked by a mighty Barcelona side.
In a few days time, Arsène Wenger’s side will be able to puff out their chests with pride at their performance in the first ever final in Europe’s top competition. They played with 10 men for 72 minutes after Jens Lehmann was sent off in the early stages then took the lead eight minutes before the break when Sol Campbell nodded home a free-kick.
For much of the second half it seemed like this impossible mission would be accomplished. Barca had all the pressure but Thierry Henry and Freddie Ljungberg had chances to finish the argument.
However, 14 minutes from time, Samuel Eto’o struck home from an acute angle on one side and soon afterwards substitute Juliano Belletti fired home in similar circumstances on the other.
There would be no way back.
The air was thick with equal measures of ambition and anxiety in the hours before kick-off. Inside the stadium, a small army of media men prepared to carry news of this historic game out to the world. Outside, there were thousands more fans — some in yellow, some in red and blue — all of them ready to drink deep from the atmospheric well this evening.
To put it simply, it was the biggest game Arsenal had ever played.
Wenger stuck with his tried and tested European formation. It was a 4-5-1 with Alexander Hleb and Ljungberg pushing forward to support Henry, the lone striker. At the back, Campbell got the nod over Philippe Senderos.
Within the first 180 seconds Henry could have scored twice. First he cushioned a well-timed pass into the area by Emmanuel Eboue past his marker, Rafael Marquez, to give himself a point-blank shot at goal just eight yards out. Barca keeper Victor Valdes was quick off his line blocked the French striker’s shot with his leg. The ball ricocheted away for a corner. It was played short to Henry on the left of the area and his vicious, low shot nearly surprised Valdes at the near post.
The opening salvos were coming from Arsenal and the London fans sensed it. If their side were to sing a tuneful song tonight then Henry would the conductor and the captain seemed to have the baton in his hand in the early stages.
In the ninth minute Ludovic Giuly escaped from Ashley Cole and stung Lehmann’s hands. Soon afterwards, Ronaldinho sent a free-kick just wide. It was a ‘sighter’ and there would be surely more from him this evening.
And so it proved.
In the 17th minute, the Brazilian cleverly sent Eto’o through against an Arsenal defence that had found itself too square on. The Cameroon striker raced forward and has appeared to have skipped past Jens Lehmann only to see his trailing leg caught by the German. The ball ran on and Giuly planted it into the empty net.
It appeared to be a goal but amid the din referee Terje Hauge had blown for the original foul. Play would be pulled back for a free-kick right on the line of the penalty area. However the foul meant Lehmann had to see red. The 36-year-old held his head in his hands at the sight of the card.
It was a correct decision but a truly sad one aswell given Lehmann’s immense contribution to Arsenal’s season. Perhaps even unluckier was Pires, who was substituted to make way for substitute keeper Manuel Almunia. The Spaniard, who had been excellent himself when required his season, survived an immediate scare when play finally restarted as Ronaldinho whistled another free-kick just wide.
It was, of course, a pivotal moment and Arsenal struggled to recover.
But history has proved that this side should not underestimated. In the 37th minute, Eboue roared up the right and was felled by Carles Puyol. Henry took the free-kick and Campbell ghosted in front of Oleguer to flick a header into the net at the far post.
Half of the stadium exploded in noise and colour. The other half was stunned into silence.
In the minutes that followed Barca’s swagger had a certain urgency about it. Could they really throw it away from such a position of strength? However they still had Ronaldinho and the Brazilians was still pulling the strings like a puppeteer.
In first half injury time he nudged the ball into Eto’o in the corner of the area. The striker swivelled past Campbell and sent a shot fizzing toward the goal. Almunia narrowed the angle and got a fingertip on the ball to deflected it on to the post.
An incredible save and one that made you think this might just not be Barca’s night.
The Catalans flew at Arsenal at the start of the second half. Ronaldinho continued to sparkle and tested Almunia with a couple of efforts from distance. In driving rain, the tide was unremittingly one-way. But it seemed Arsenal’s dam has been well-built.
It seemed that Barca had run out of ideas and, if anything, Arsenal were stretching them more and more. Henry fired wastefully at Valdes when put clear, Hleb thumped a shot wide and Ljungberg forced the Spanish international keeper to tip acrobatically over the bar when the Swede had wriggled himself into some space on the left of the area.
On the hour, Barca manager Frank Rikjaard brought on Henrik Larsson for the ineffective Mark van Bommel. The Swedish striker’s introduction was to prove pivotal. In the 76th minute he cushioned a perfect ball for Eto’o to race through and fire home from an acute angle. Five minutes later the Swede laid on the pass for Belletti to thump home a shot that cannoned into the net off the ankle of Almunia.
Arsenal tried their best to raise themselves but, tired and outnumbered, their tanks was empty.
The full whistle saw the opposite reaction to the opening goal. This time the red-and-blue half of the pitch was ecstatic and the yellow side stunned. But the Arsenal supporters soon roused themself through song. It was the least their side deserved on the night.
Fortunately this young team will come again and every Arsenal fan can be proud of their team this evening.
As I said early, after the disappointment has died, a certain satisfaction will take its place. Next season we will have the Emirates Stadium and, thank heaven, another opportunity in this great competition.
But, for tonight at least, we must console ourselves with the thought that it was just not to be.

THE EXPENSIVE PRICE OF MINERAL WATER IN MALAYSIA
The issue that I choose for my issue is ‘The expensive price of mineral water’. The mineral water price problem had become a serious issue in our country since the price of mineral water is more expensive compared with our petrol price.
What is mineral water? Mineral water is water, which has high level of dissolved minerals (electrolytes). These minerals are acquired naturally by the route the water takes to reach the aquifer where it is found. Mineral water is considered healthier for you than R/O filter or deionised water because it provides the body with various electrolytes and the fluid necessary for proper body functions.
Mineral water is good because it becoming the preferred method of balancing the electrolyte balance in the body. The mineral water not only replenish the necessary balance of minerals and the water that body loses naturally through everyday activities, it also beneficial in increasing the body of various toxins and breakdown waste materials.
Mineral water also have a taste and it taste is associates with several qualities of mineral water. The taste of mineral water should not be objectionable and it should have a clean, fresh taste.
The mineral water composition inside the mineral water is different refer to the amount of mineral water. For the 600 ml mineral water, the composition is like this: -
Ø Calcium 4.2mg/l
Ø Potassium 5.3mg/l
Ø Magnesium 4.1mg/l
Ø Bicarbonate 89 mg/l
Ø Chloride 10 mg/l
Ø Sulphate 4.5mg/l
Ø Natrium 4.4mg/l
Ø pH 7.2
Ø total dissolved solid 180mg/l
Mineral water can be used for preparing meal instead of using natural water supply at our house but it can cause a slight difference in term of our food taste. But mineral water is really healthy especially in preparing vegetables because it helps prevent leaching of minerals and gives a livelier fresher taste.
Complaint about the mineral water price, which is too expensive, and burden the consumer, especially for people those live in the Klang Valley area. This problem arise when people realize the increasing price of mineral water that really burden themselves because it is a basic needs for people to live.
The main objective here is to determine why the price of mineral water is too expensive. I hope that by doing this research and observations about this problem it can solve the problem that most of the Klang Valley people face right now.
These are two-problem statement that I found after doing my research;
Retailer sold the 500ml mineral water with price RM 1.00-2.00 per bottle
Hotel operator sold with higher price which is RM 4.50-5.00 for each 500ml per bottle
The price above shows that our mineral water price is totally expensive because the price of water is quite expensive,compared with our petrol price, which is RM 1.92 per 1000ml.
The analysis that I found for these problems are: -
Price
Manufacturer price for 500ml mineral water is RM 0.37-0.41 but the retailer sell it for RM 1.00-2.00 depend on the location of the retail outlet
If the mineral water price that sell in sundry shops or supermarket is cheaper compared with the price of mineral water, which sold at Puduraya or any petrol station shop. The price of mineral water that sells in supermarket is only RM 0.80 compared with the price at Puduraya that is RM 1.50 for 500ml mineral water.
From my observation, the reason why Puduraya sell this mineral water with a high price because of the demand, which come from the people, which use the Puduraya. Usually this people are the bus user, besides the taxi rider and the bus driver.
The hotel operator sell the 500ml mineral water for RM4.50 to RM5.00 depends on the hotel services or charges. The price is more expensive because of their customer (people who stay at the hotel) do not have any other place to buy this mineral water except at their café. The people who stay at the hotel can afford to buy it eventhough the price is too expensive.

This issue happen because of the highly demand on mineral water, especially in the Klang Valley area because of the poor quality of direct water supply at home
People have to buy mineral water for their drink because they cannot use the water supply at their house as a drinking water
As we know the Klang valley area faces a big problem regarding with the quality of water supply at their housing area. This problem arise because of the management of the water company did not have enough budget to change the pipe that supply water to the housing area that aged more than 50 years.
The cost of changing the new pipe is costly. Some of the water that being treated is used for another purpose like for the industrial used and water theft that caused a lost for the water company.
When people used the mineral water as a substitute to their drinking water, the retailers that sell the mineral water take an advantage to increase the price because they can get a high profit by selling the mineral water.
ACTION TAKEN:
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs had taken an action towards this problem. The hotel operator must submit a report regarding their sale of mineral water at their premises which been found too expensive.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumers Affairs want a fast action regarding with this issue because mineral water now is become a necessity to the people.
Government had ask the manufacturer and the retailer to follow the recommended retail price which is RM 0.85 for 500ml mineral water and for 1.5 l should cost RM 1.20
The cap of mineral water and drinking water must be standardized and different between each other. Mineral water cap should be in blue colour whereas the drinking water is in white colour.
RECOMMENDATION:
People can make a complaint or report to the Consumer Tribunal if any parties, like the retailer make any fraud to them because as a consumer they have their own right to make sure that they get what suppose they should get
Besides that they can bring this kind of issue into media like TV and newspapers to protect their right
CONCLUSION:
This problem had being discussed over the media but the price of mineral water still expensive because there is no enforcement by the government towards this problem
The price of mineral water still the same at the petrol retail outlet or even at the Puduraya which sell 500ml mineral water for RM1.50 where they supposed to sell it at RM 0.85-1.00
The expensive price of mineral water will not happen if people can use direct water supply as their drink

SPORT:Tonight FA Cup Final match is really thrilling to watch.Both team give excellent performance in their quest to win the cup.Liverpool was down just after 21 mintues of play when Jamie Carragher turn Lionel Scaloni cross into his own net.7 minutes later,West Ham scores again.This time through Dean Ashton when he pounced the loose ball from jose Reina from an attemped shot fom distance by Matthew Etherington.Liverpool tries to hit back,just like what they have did in Istanbul in European Champions League Final.32 minutes after kick-off,Cisse drilled a right foot volley into the net after recieving Gerrard long pass.The hot packed action match continues to entertain millions of viewer across the world.
In second half,Liverpool manage to level the score 2-2 when Gerrard latches on the loose ball after chaos in front of West Ham goal.However,Paul Konchesky mishit cross somehow crept inside the far post to give the Hammers the lead.The pressure is on Liverpool.They keep attacking but West Ham manage to defend the lead...until Gerrard fires a 35 yard footer thunderbolt to force the game into extra time.
In the first period of extra time,liverpool looks a stronger team but in the second period of extra time,it is West Ham that dominate the game more.Games also have been stopped for a few times as the players suffering cramp.In the minutes 119,West Ham have a superb chance from a free kick but Reina brilliantly saved by pushing the ball and then Harewood drilled the loose ball wide.
Now,it's come to the penalty.The cruel way to declare the winner,as both team play superbly entertaining football.the first man to take the penalty is Deitmar Hamann.He coolly slot it in.Then Reina make another super saves to deny Bobby Zamora spotkick.Then Hislop denying Hyypia.Sheringham and Gerrard both converting their penalty.Reina saves again using his feet to Konchesky effort.Liverpool 2-1 up.Riise fires it in the middle.Anton Ferdinand fail to slot it home as Reina saves again.

KUALA LUMPUR: Low-cost carrier AirAsia will renew a sponsorship deal with Manchester United worth US$5.6mil in a move officials are hopeful will further woo foreign tourists to Asia.
“Hopefully, we can ink the deal in a week. The number of tourists flying on AirAsia after we signed the deal with Manchester United last year is very encouraging,” AirAsia chief executive officer Datuk Tony Fernandes was quoted by AFP as saying.
Fernandes declined to reveal the cost of the one-year deal, but said it was within its annual RM60mil budget allocated for advertisements and promotions.
Industry sources familiar with the deal said the contract could cost AirAsia some £2.5mil to £3mil.
AirAsia group deputy chief executive Kamarudin Meranum said there was an influx of European tourists to Asia in the past year, most of whom were British.
“A lot of them used to go to Spain, but are now coming to Asia after seeing AirAsia advertisements at Old Trafford,” he said.
The previous one-year sponsorship deal was for the English League Premier season from August 2005 to May 2006. The new deal will be from August 2006 to May 2007.
Fernandes said the profit-making AirAsia also hoped to leverage on Manchester United's massive fan base in Asia.
“As the official low-fare airline for Manchester United, AirAsia hopes to create opportunities and exciting avenues to reach out and connect with the team's loyal fan base in Asia,” he said.
Since last December, AirAsia has taken delivery of six of the 100 A320 aircraft it has ordered. It plans to have 15 of the craft in service by end-2006, and slowly phase out its Boeing 737-400s.
AirAsia in February said its profits rose to RM53.4mil in the second quarter to December from RM44.4mil a year earlier, due to higher loads and fares during the festive season. – AFX-Asia
